(WHAS11) - There is a loving soul who is doing her best to help heal patients at southern Indiana's rehab hospital in New Albany. Her name is Lily and her technique is anything but ordinary.
Walking Lily and talking about her with others is part of Chad's socialization; bringing him into our world.
That's right, this Golden Doodle, a therapist so to speak, and now a full time employee, making a difference in many lives especially Chad's.
Chad's speech therapist and mother have noticed a difference.
Faces light up when Lily comes to visit, even with her cold nose, patients get a warm feeling when she's around, and that's the point according to her handler Deb Strickler.
That safe environment has Chad ready to serve up treats to Lily.
Chad's father is struck by his son's willingness to reach out to Lily and even get physical.
Like the shirt says, Lily has many friends these days among her biggest fans Chad's parents.
A fan club that's sure to get bigger the longer Lily walks these halls.
Lily and Chad have been working together for about 6 months now.
Lily will be at the southern Indiana rehab hospital Monday through Friday; yep, her schedule is nine to five!
