More Tornado Coverage:

(WHAS11) -The tornadoes of 1974 are seared into Kentuckiana history and the history of the entire Midwest. And now the Weather Channel is putting its spin on that super outbreak.

On April 3, 1974, Louisville was among a number of cities hit hard. A total of 148 tornadoes hit in 13 states.

A Weather Channel special this fall will feature WHAS11 coverage of the disaster. The coverage will include the late Dick Gilbert, the helicopter pilot who warned people to take cover, and anchor Ken Rowland, who watched tapes of that footage today, and credited WHAS11 photographers for telling the story.
