(WHAS11) - The pretrial hearing for Cecil New was held on Monday. He is the man accused of murdering Ivan Cano. But now there is a new player into the case.
Jesse Gilbert lived in the same apartment building as Cecil New at the time Ivan Cano went missing.
Soon after, Jesse Gilbert was arrested in an unrelated murder and he currently faces capital murder charges suspected of killing a man named Dennis Kellums.
Recently the Common Wealth received a letter allegedly written by Gilbert, claiming he had information on Ivan Cano's murder and that Cecil New was involved in Dennis Kellums murder.
Gilbert's attorney is asking for full access to the discovery in the Cano case which is something Cecil New's attorney, Jay Lambert, disagrees with.
No decision was made on this motion. Meanwhile, Cecil New will be back in court on November 20th, for a contempt hearing.
