(WHAS11) - Of the 120 counties that make up the commonwealth, 116 are reporting soaring jobless claims.
Jefferson County's unemployment rate has increased nearly 2% to 6.4%.
Bullitt County's rate has increased even more and that's not the worst of it.
In Indiana, Jennings County has an 8.5% unemployment rate. In Kentucky, Trimble County has 7.8% unemployment. And while things are somewhat better in Jefferson County, one unemployment office alone saw about 800 people in one day.
People spilled onto the sidewalk because the tiny waiting room just couldn't hold them all.
Some counties are doing somewhat better. Clark and Floyd Counties' unemployment rates are both under 6%. So is Oldham County, which has one of the lowest rates in all of Kentucky.
