Statement released to WHAS11 news by G.E. Louisville spokeswoman:

"Notifications regarding thesalaried employee reductions we announced in October will go out to impacted employees globallystarting this week. While these actions are very difficult for everyone, the reductions are necessary to better align the business with the unprecedented downmarket.Reductions will come fromnot replacing retirees, consolidating jobsand some layoffs.

Impacted employees will have numerous resources available to aid their transition including out placement assistance, one year medical insurance and tuition reimbursement for courses completed within two years."

We are still gathering our global information but we estimate about a 5% in salaried reductions across the business.
