DANVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A Danville woman has avoided jail time in what authorities said was the starvation of two of her three stepsons.
Virginia Holsinger pleaded guilty on Thursday to two counts of second-degree criminal abuse -- a lesser charge than she and her husband Charles Holsinger were indicted on.
She must meet terms of a diversion program that includes community service.
Police arrested the Holsingers in June after the 9- and 12-year-old biological sons of Charles Holsinger were found to be malnourished.
The Lexington Herald-Leader quoted a court document that said the children have recovered since being placed in foster care.
A similar plea bargain for Charles Holsinger was withheld after it was found he has a prior out-of-state felony conviction.
