(WHAS11) - The University of Louisville says they've seen a 10% increase on financial aid applications.
To help future students, a financial aid workshop was held to give them and their parents a crash course on how to apply for it.
The financial aid office says it's not just the first timers applying for help.
"I think anytime there's a downturn in the economy more people look at returning to school and increasing their education and improving their level of education, especially if they've been affected by layoffs or early retirements in their jobs," says Pat Arauz, Executive Director of Student Financial Aid.
