(WHAS11) -We're continuing to follow the key characters who are involved in the Rick Pitino extortion claim.
The mother of the woman at the center the alleged extortion plot against the Cards coach says her daughter is the victim.
She talked to WHAS11's Renee Murphy Tuesday afternoon and shared more information about Karen Sypher.
Sypher's mother didn't want to go on camera with us, but she did talk about her daughter's case.
Judith Cunigan says her daughter never asked for any money from Rick Pitino and that she never took any money from him.
Cunigan says her daughter is now in counseling and has lost a lot of weight because of what's been happening.
The FBI is investigating Sypher to see if she was trying to extort money from the coach.
Her attorney Thomas Clay told us earlier this week that she could face prosecution.
A woman claiming to be Sypher called our station earlier this month and made criminal allegations against Pitino.
So far, she has not filed a criminal complaint and has not been charged.
Sypher is getting a divorce from the Cards' equipment manager Tim Sypher, who also worked with Pitino while he was coaching the Boston Celtics.
Because some of the divorce papers were sealed by a family court judge, we don't know if the divorce proceedings include any information about this case.
Monday attorneys on both sides met with the family court judge, and all parties agreed to remove some of the information in the divorce case.
We will keep you updated as this case continues to unfold.
