(WHAS11) - Steve Nunn, the number two person at the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services has resigned after allegations he assaulted a woman.
Nunn, who is also a former state representative, has been ordered to stay away from his former fianc for a year after she filed an emergency order against him.
Nunn has a court date next week.
Governor Steve Beshear issued a statement confirming Nunn's resignation, saying Nunn did not want his legal issues to be a distraction to the governor or the cabinet.
