Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - General Electric is shutting down a line at Louisville's Appliance Park, but this time the company says they are not layoffs.
GE says due to a slow demand for locally made washers, the company is eliminating a line shift in the laundry manufacturing facility.
It will be eliminated by August third.
But GE released this statement:
"There are no layoffs associated with this announcement as all employees will have opportunities to take open jobs in other areas."
Among those open jobs, some that used to be outsourced are now being done at Appliance Park.
