LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- An Indiana family has sued the Louisville Zoo over the derailment of a miniature train earlier this month that injured 22 people.
Amy and Darren Bamforth of Charlestown, Ind., filed suit Wednesday in Jefferson Circuit Court in Louisville. The Bamforth's say they and their son were on the zoo train when three open-air cars and the engine came off the tracks on June 1 and caused the passenger cars to topple over.
They are seeking unspecified monetary damages, as well as a court order preventing the zoo from altering or destroying the train while the lawsuit proceeds.
The Kentucky Department of Agriculture is investigating the wreck. Zoo spokeswoman Kara Bussabarger did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
