(WHAS11) - One out of five high school girls will experience teen dating violence.

It's an issue back in the spotlight after allegations of singer Chris Brown assaulting his girlfriend - pop star Rihanna.

And now the two are supposedly back together - sparking debate among young women in Louisville.

They say if that's true it's sending out the wrong message to the scores of girls who look up to her.

They have the fame, they seemed to have a great and happy relationship.

Fans got a glimpse of the singer with swollen eyes and bruises - allegedly from her boyfriend R&B singer Chris Brown.

Mary and Melanie from Western Middle School in Louisville told me how they feel about the alleged assault.

But what has them really upset are the reports that Rihanna is back with Chris Brown.

Students at Assumption High School feel the same.

Staff from the Mary Byron Foundation and say if the allegations are true, and if Rihanna is back with Chris Brown - it's sending the wrong message to teenage girls.

Chris brown is charged with two felonies: Assault and criminal threats.

If you would like to read entire criminal complaint against brown we have it on our website.
