(WHAS11) -Tens of thousands of AT&T employees across the country are threatening to strike if they don't get an agreement on a new contract.
In downtown Louisville Sunday morning, workers with the Communication Workers of America Union picketed in front of the AT&T building. They say they have been in contract negotiations since February, and if an agreement isn't reached by August, they plan to strike.
They say the company is contracting new workers overseas and trying to cut medical and retirement benefits for American workers.
Matt Embry, from CWA Local 3310, explains, "It seems like working with a large company like this, they do what they want to do because they're so large. We just have to fight as much as we can now to help keep the ground that we have now."
The strike would affect 137 thousand workers across 22 states-4 ,000 in Kentucky. Similar rallies were held all over the country Sunday.
