(WHAS11) -A former UK Volleyball player from Louisville has died after a car wreck in Lexington.

24-year-old Jennifer Casper died Sunday following the accident early Saturday morning.

Police say Casper was driving too fast, when she veered off Fontaine Road and ran into a tree.

She was not wearing her seat-belt.

Police also believe alcohol may have been a factor.

Casper was a mercy academy graduate who played for UK from 2003 to 2006.

UK Volleyball Coach Craig Skinner released this statement today:

"Our volleyball family is deeply saddened by the loss of Jenni. She meant a great deal to our program, and our hearts go out to the Casper family and loved ones.

We will do everything we can to carry on Jenni's legacy of dedication, enthusiasm and unselfishness through our program."
