JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- More than 2,000 seasonal workers started Cyber Monday with a stretch, preparing their bodies for a long day at the Jeffersonville Amazon Fulfillment Center.
“We are really focused on getting customers the gift that they ordered when they need them so we staff up for that. So busy and we are having fun,” Amazon spokesperson Sarah Gelman said.
Cyber Monday is the busiest day of the year for workers at the largest Amazon fulfillment center in North America - 43 football fields could fit inside the building.
Amazon officials said this Cyber Monday is predicted to bring in between 10-25 percent more purchases than last year’s $26.5 million. At the fulfillment center workers fill orders by grabbing items from from the shelves, then package them, sort the orders and ship them off all over the country.
On Cyber Monday Amazon plans on offering new deals every 10 minutes and also offering special deals throughout the remaining week.
