LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The city continues to celebrate the spirit of former world champion boxer and humanitarian Muhammad Ali.
Mayor Greg Fischer was on hand to give away bikes in The Champ’s memory.
Schwinn and city officials presented bikes to 100 children who completed a youth bicycle education program at a local community center.
Parents say they are grateful for the opportunities the program allows for their children to get out of the house and in a positive environment.
“We’re just glad he got to get out with other kids his age – other youth. They have a lot of programs for the kids. I just like for him to do something different and be among his peers,” Arthur Owens, a father said.
In addition to bikes, children also received a helmet and a bike lock.
