LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Office advises motorists of lane and ramp closures over the weekend on Interstate 264 (Watterson Expressway) in Jefferson County.
Contract crews will place the final asphalt surface on two ramps as part of the project to construct acceleration and deceleration lanes at the I-71/I-264 interchange.
The following ramps will be closed from 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 10 until 9 a.m. on Sunday, November 11:
- Entrance ramp from US 42 to eastbound I-264
- Exit ramp from eastbound I-264 to northbound I-71 (Exit 23A)
Motorists should consider alternate routes due to the lengthy delays expected.
During this same time period, eastbound I-264 will be reduced to one lane between US 42 and I-71 (mile points 22.1 and 22.9).
In addition, the left lanes of Interstate 71 will be closed in both directions between I-264 and the Lime Kiln Lane overpass (mile points 5.0 and 5.8) to allow for completion of shoulder work. These lane closures are scheduled for Saturday, November 10 from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
The actual starting date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
