LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- An informational open house was held on Tuesday night at Springdale Community Church on the East End Bridge project. Many residents on the Kentucky side showed up and voiced concerns over preliminary work that is underway.
“They've come and they've slaughtered our neighborhood with no prior notice,” Marsha Weinstein said.
Tree clearing in the area is already under way and residents who live near Wolf Pen Branch Road say they were never notified.
“Now that they're going to have a meeting after the fact, it's like giving a blood transfusion to a dead person,” Arnold Zegart said.
Residents are also concerned about construction noise and traffic. A traffic management plan is still in the works with the contractor. It is expected to be completed in May.
“There will be temporary lane restrictions and temporary closures at times,” Ron Heustis, INDOT Project Manager, said.
Construction on the East End Bridge is expected to start in June. Work on the Downtown Bridge will start in July.
