LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A man wanted on warrants in Kentucky and Indiana is at University Hospital after a police chase through South Louisville Tuesday.

During a news conference Tuesday afternoon, police said the suspect is 30-year-old Travis Mettling.

The chase started in Jeffersontown, after a traffic stop, and went down Poplar Level Road and onto the Watterson Expressway before ending on South Dixie Highway near Gagel.

Police were close behind Mettling as he drove through crowded parking lots and people's front yards. Mettling hit at least one car during the chase that lasted 58 minutes, police said.

Officers were able to ram the vehicle and cornered it in the parking lot of the Arby's on South Dixie Highway before Mettling was able to do more damage.

With guns drawn, officers descended on the vehicle and pulled Mettling out of the car. He was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

At one point during the chase, police said, three passengers were in the vehicle and had exited the vehicle during the chase.

Police said the vehicle belonged to the mother of Mettling's girlfriend.

Police were convinced he was not going to stop the chase until they did something.

Some officers were slightly injured in the chase, but they are OK, according to police.

Mettling will be charged with numerous counts of wanton endangerment, police said.
