LOUISVILLE, Ky (WHAS11)-- The open signs were on at the Twig and Leaf diner in the Highlands Friday evening just hours after the restaurant was robbed.

Several customers sat inside, including a mother and daughter when the armed man walked through the door.

Teresa McDonald, a waitress at the restaurant, said the suspects had the gun pointed at her and were not very far away.

McDonald said the man told her to empty her pockets. She was walking around with roughly $200 because the restaurant doesn’t have a register. The man got away with the cash, walked out of the restaurant and was gone.

McDonald described the robber as a white male in his mid to late twenties. She said he was wearing dark glasses, jeans and a blue and white striped jacket. The owner said he doesn’t believe the security cameras were working. Anyone with information can leave an anonymous tip at 574-LMPD.
