LMPD officers, West End community members playing softball game Sept. 10

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Community members from the West Louisville Urban Coalition and LMPD officers will get together for the First Annual Bridging the Gap Softball Game on Saturday.

The game is the latest effort to improve relations between police and the West End as violence continues to rock the city.

Mayor Greg Fischer will throw out the first pitch and honorary coaches and local celebrity players are expected to be in attendance as well.

Organizers encourage the public to attend the event which will also provide free food and drinks.

The game will take place at 11 a.m. at the Shawnee Park baseball field at 4501 West Broadway.
