KOKOMO, Ind. (WHAS11) -- Officials are getting a better idea of the damage caused by the tornado that hit Kokomo, Ind., last week.
The city's Highland Park was severely damaged and more than 60 trees that were more than 100-years-old were uprooted by the storm.
The director of parks and recreation says two playgrounds were almost completely destroyed. However, despite the substantial destruction, the city plans to reopen the park by the weekend.
Officials have estimated that about 1,000 residential structures were damaged from the tornado.
