22 students, 3 adults injured in school bus accident in Jeffersonville

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) – Two Greater Clark County School buses and a car are involved in an accident at Crestview Court and Brigman Avenue, near Parkview Middle School, according to Jeffersonville Police dispatch.

Everyone involved in the wreck was checked and released from area hospitals Friday evening. 

The Greater Clark County Schools Superintendent said 22 students and 3 adults were injured. They were transported to Kosair Children's Hospital and Clark Memorial Hospital. The three adults that were injured include: a bus driver, the driver of the car and the passenger from the car. The superintendent said everyone is expected to be OK.

According to a nursing supervisor, 11 people are being treated at Clark Memorial Hospital; all of them are in stable condition. Officials said the 11 patients are expected to be released from the hospital on Friday night.

Kosair said they treated 13 students for very minor injuries and all have been discharged from the hospital.

The superintendent said bus 001 rear-ended bus 95-4; bus 95-4 was then pushed into the intersection in the path of the car.

At the time of the accident both buses were loaded with passengers. Greater Clark County Schools said, on Twitter, students on board the buses were Parkview Middle School students.

The GCCS superintendent said 25 students were sent back to Parkview Middle School to be picked up by their parents.
