MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) -- Court documents say the apparent slaying of a Mitchell teenager might have been sparked by romantic jealousy.

Twenty-year-old Alexander Salgado and a 15-year-old girl are charged with murder in the case, which involves a body found in the trunk of a burned car on Nov. 10. Authorities believe the body is that of 16-year-old Jasmine Guevara, though the remains have not been positively identified.

Authorities say Salgado and the girl had recently come to Mitchell from Fort Wayne, Ind. Court documents say the motivation for the killing is believed to be the girl's jealousy over a developing relationship between Salgado and Guevara.

The mother of the 15-year-old girl recently reported her missing and said she had been kidnapped. Authorities have not determined if that claim is valid.
