LOUISVILLE, Ky., (WHAS11)— Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is now considering leaving the race after news of his 13-year-affair with a Louisville woman surfaced.

She revealed the affair in an interview in Atlanta last night.

Who is Ginger White? She and Cain met at a convention that was being held in Louisville years ago.

We've spent most of the day trying to find out what we could about her.

While plenty of people talked to us about her, they wouldn't agree to talk on camera, mostly out of concern over how what's coming out now might affect her children.

Until yesterday, most of us had never heard of Ginger White.

But she's found herself in the national spotlight after telling an Atlanta television station that she carried on a 13-year affair with Republican Presidential candidate Herman Cain.

“I wanted to come out and give my side before it was thrown out there and made out to be something filthy, which some people will say... That's exactly what it is,” White said in the interview in Atlanta yesterday.

The trouble began right here in River City, when Cain attended a convention of the National Restaurant Association in the late 1990's.

White says he took her to his hotel room the night they met, and he began an affair with her that she says lasted until this past September.

White says she has the phone records to prove it.

“I was aware that he was married and I also was aware that I was involved in a very inappropriate relationship.” White said.

Before she was Ginger White, the woman at the center of the political scandal was Ginger Dillard, who grew up in Prospect.

She attended Ballard High School and was in the class of 1983.

While attending Ballard, the school yearbook indicates that Ginger Dillard was not involved in many activities. She was, however, involved with the school's star athlete.

John White, her high school sweetheart, went on to play college and professional basketball.

He and Ginger married, had children, then got divorced.

Up until the past six years, Ginger lived with her children in multiple apartments in Louisville, then they moved to Atlanta.

Her former landlord didn't want to talk on camera, but said she left owing him money, which she eventually repaid.

A high school friend tells us he completely believes Ginger White's claim about the affair  because he said, “That's how she's always been.  She's always constantly needed the attention of men."

We also reached out to another of Ginger White's former boyfriends here in Louisville, but he didn't want to talk to us.
