CLARK COUNTY, Ind. (WHAS11) – The state of Indiana has suspended the operation of the Clark County Drug Court after allegations of the staff making unlawful arrests.
According to a letter addressed to Judge Jerry Jacobi, from the Executive Director of the Indiana Judicial Center Jane Seigel, the suspension remains in effect until further notice.
For those currently participating in this program, plans will be made for future supervision.
Under the suspension the Clark County Drug Court cannot accept new participants.
The drug court is also accused of keeping people in jail for longer than their sentence.
On Tuesday, Feb. 18, those who had come forward making the claims took legal action and their attorney filed a class action lawsuit in federal court. The suit claims the plaintiffs were unlawfully detained and their civil rights were violated.
A drug court director was fired in the wake of the scandal and a bailiff for drug court was also suspended without pay.
