SALYERSVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Relatives of a man charged in a Magoffin County sodomy case have pleaded guilty to charges related to the defendant's mistrial.
Gladys Allen, who is 64, pleaded guilty on Thursday to threatening physical harm to the prosecutor handling the state's case against her son Chester Allen.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reported the defendant's son, 18-year-old Jarred Allen, pleaded guilty before Magoffin Circuit Court to attempted jury tampering. He was accused of trying trying to intimidate three jurors in his father's trial as they left the courthouse.
Those threats caused the court to declare a mistrial in Chester Allen's case in September. He will be retried later.
Prosecutors have recommended a year in jail for both Gladys Allen and Jarred Allen and want the court to keep both in jail until Chester Allen's retrial concludes.
