PRINCETON, Ind. (AP) -- A southwestern Indiana police chief says a man fatally shot a woman as she approached a restaurant with her 13-year-old son following the boy's eighth-grade graduation.
Princeton Police Chief W.W. George says the shooting occurred Wednesday afternoon outside Los Aztecas Mexican Grill in Princeton, about 25 miles north of Evansville.
George tells WFIE-TV the shooting followed an incident at Princeton Community Middle School's 8th grade graduation.
WFIE says school officials initially denied the man entry because they believed there was a restraining order against him, but upon learning otherwise he was allowed in. He then learned the woman and her son were going to the restaurant and met them there.
The gunman fled from the scene after the shooting. George says a man later was taken into custody.
