William Gibson calls himself 'evil' during police interrogation

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS11) -- Gibson faces one count of murder in the gruesome death of 75-year-old Christine Whitis. The Floyd county prosecutor started opening statements showing the jury a picture of Christine, the defense spent less than five minutes for their opening statements.

Police believe Gibson sexually assaulted and strangled Christine Whitis. Whitis was best friends with Gibson's late mother. Police day Gibson called her over telling her he was upset over his mom's death.

On Monday, Oct. 21, police entered cell phone records into evidence showing Gibson called Whitis on the morning of April 18; two hours later Whitis called him.
 
Gibson's sister found Whitis’ body in the garage and called police.

In the taped video interrogation played in court one day after Gibson was arrested while driving Whitis’ van he describes strangling and pulling down her pants and shirt before dragging her to his garage. He then told investigators he cut off her right breast. He told investigators he was drunk when his happened.

In the video interrogation he calls himself evil.

Three other witnesses testified on Monday all three where New Albany police officers.
