NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS11) – The Floyd County prosecutor, Keith Henderson, said on Feb. 14 that warrants were filed against two adult females and a juvenile in connection to the fatal New Albany house fire that killed three children on Ealy Street in the early morning hours of Jan. 4.
Kylie Jinks, Shelby Makowsky and the juvenile were in the car with Cody Cashion when prosecutors believe he fired a flare into the house, according to officials. They are charged with conspiracy to commit arson.
Henderson said the flare lasted seconds but the temperature was more than 3,000 degrees and there was nothing the mother could do to save the children.
Jinks has been arrested but the other two suspects have not at this time.
The juvenile with Cashion at the time of the Clarksville Police chase lead police to fatal fire connection, according to Henderson.
Officials said that after the incident the suspects tried to go back and get flare.
The suspects need to be held to a high standard but not as accountable as Cashion, Henderson said.
Henderson believes Cashion has fired flares into homes before and other incidents are currently being investigated.
