WWII ship visits Madison waterfront

MADISON, Ind. (WHAS11) -- A giant ship is docked at the riverfront in Madison, Indiana and you are welcomed aboard.

The Landing Ship Tank 325, a World War II ship, is open for tours.

The United States never lost an invasion once the LSTs were produced and could land tanks on the beach.

It carried a crew of 110 during wartime and reached a max speed of a whopping 12 miles per hour.

WHAS11 even found a veteran who spent time on a ship just like this one and you can see it all in the video player above.
