LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) –The women’s basketball team at Indiana University will play their scheduled game tonight at Assembly Hall.
The announcement came after an 8’ piece of metal fell from the arena’s ceiling on Tuesday.
The men’s basketball game scheduled for Tuesday night was cancelled.
Several seats were damaged when the 50 pound beam collapsed, though no one was injured because the arena was empty.
University officials said ice on the roof of Assembly Hall may have contributed to the incident.
Engineers and the arena renovation committee said the structural integrity of the arena is safe.
