NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS11)  – Every Friday night, from 6 until 9 p.m., Bicentennial Park in downtown New Albany comes alive. Every week, a different band takes the stage, and every week, the crowd gets a little bit bigger.

It’s all part of the Bicentennial Park Summer Concert series. It’s an effort to bring people of all ages together to relax and kick off the weekend.

The event had been held at the waterfront previously, but organizer Michael Hall said moving downtown was a chance to bring some energy to the city center.

“We really wanted to include all the restaurants, all the businesses that are coming up in downtown New Albany,” he explained.

The event runs through August. It’s free and open to the public.
