INDIANAPOLIS (WHAS11) -- We're now less than a month away from the start of the Indiana State Fair and it really is the year of popcorn.

The company "Snax in Pax" in northeastern Indiana is creating a popcorn ball that weighs about 5,200 pounds.

Workers are using a mold that's eight-feet wide.

The work is being done in stages and the finishing touches will be put on the ball once it's shipped to Indianapolis.

The fair opens Aug. 2.
