MARENGO, Ind. (WHAS11) – Small town politics turned into a shouting match Monday evening in southern Indiana.

For several months, residents of Marengo, Indiana have been arguing over whether one of the town council members should be allowed to serve on the board.

Peggy Bullington owns property in Marengo but spends most of her time with her new husband living outside the city limits.

The city lawyer and other officials say that disqualifies her from being a resident.

Bullington submitted her resignation to the group during the meeting.

“Crawford County politics, I’ve been in ‘em a long time. But I’ll never get into the town of Marengo’s politics again – I’ll tell you that,” she said.

Bullington plans to file paperwork Tuesday to prove her residency.
