NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS 11) -- Investigators are still trying to figure out what led to a deadly ATV accident in New Albany, Ind. Monday night.

Police said the crash happened around 9 p.m. in the 3800 block of Monty Drive. 38-year-old William Duitz of Borden was riding an ATV in the driveway when he went over a concrete embankment.

At this time, it is not clear what caused Duitz to go off the driveway and over the embankment, but police said Duitz fell about 6 feet and was thrown off the ATV.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Duitz was not wearing a helmet, and if he had been wearing a helmet he may have survived the accident.

Drug and alcohol tests are pending.
