(WHAS 11)--The Jeffersonville Aquatic Center remains closed due to a positive test for e-coli bacteria.

Last week the pool was shut down after the positive test.

Since then pool officials have been adding extra chlorine and back washing the pool to remedy the problem.

While e-coli can be caused by humans, another culprit may be to blame.

A water sample was submitted June 7 and it's hoped the health department will clear the pool to open in the next 24 to 48 hours.
