JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- Jeffersonville officials said they are working to bring back a riverboat themed celebration just in time for the 100th birthday celebration for the Belle of Louisville.
The Belle turns 100-years-old next year and the city of Jeffersonville wants to revive the Steamboat Days Festival to tap into the celebration. Steamboat Days was canceled in 1999 due to dwindling crowds.
An effort is now underway to raise $1.5 million to host the event – organizers said they have already collected about half of that amount.
Mayor Mike Moore said the revived festival will feature music, local booths and other entertainment.
