LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- There were plenty of clouds to rain on the Fourth of July parade in Jeffersonville.

“You just dodge the drops and you keep on going. It's liquid sunshine,” said Jeffersonville Parade Committee member Jim Ford.

A poncho or an umbrella does the trick on a day like today.

“We had more show up than we anticipated. We thought there were going to be a lot more cancellations than there was but fortunately there wasn’t.” said Ford.

More than forty floats made their way down Spring Street and there were smiles all around.

“Even though it was wet we felt it was worth coming,” said Jim Baker.

“I feel great because if it was hot and sunny I’d be too hot. So I like this,” said Jane Hubbard.

“Anything to be here and celebrate freedom,” said Sonshine the clown.

After all that's what it's all about.

“July means my freedom. I was in the military so I know what this is,” said Ford.

“I’m happy to be in this country and the freedom we have here. There is no place like the United States of America,” said Sonshine.

“We have freedom to live where we want to live, to work where we want to work, to be who we want to be. A lot of people sacrificed a whole lot so we could have that freedom,” said Baker.
