TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WHAS11) – It’s sometimes known as black gold and Indiana State University wants to find it.

ISU school officials have announced measures for drilling for oil under the university.

The drilling site is at the corner of 10th and Chestnut Street.

Crews plan to hide the oil equipment with landscaping. They will also have a system to vaporize oil odor.

There’s no way of knowing if this is a profitable venture but in case it is, the school has plans for the money.

"Any proceeds that might be realized our trusties have asked that those funds be dedicated to differed maintenance needs on our campus. There are many that need to be addressed and this might possibly be a way of helping us do that," an official said.

The agreement also allows the site to be used by students for hands-on learning.
