Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - An Indianapolis Police Officer, gunned down in a shootout last weekend, is being remembered as a hero today.

An honor guard carried the flag-covered coffin of Officer Perry Renn into Banker's Life Fieldhouse on July 11.  Thousands attended the tribute for the 22-year police veteran.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence spoke at the service.

Renn was killed by a man armed with an AK-47 last Saturday.
