NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS11) – An Indiana State Police trooper was injured in an accident on Tuesday at 5 a.m. in New Albany.

According to ISP Trooper Scott Parkes was driving his 2008 Crown Victoria police car north on Slate Run Road near Beeler Street in New Albany.

ISP said for an unknown reason he went off the right side of the roadway, going east. He then over corrected and his police car went west across Slate Run Road striking an electric pole on the west side of the roadway.

The trooper was not on an emergency run at the time of the crash.

Parkes, 25, was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Ky. by ground ambulance with non-life threatening injuries, ISP said.

Parkes, from Floyd County, has been a trooper for one year and is assigned Clark and Floyd Counties. Trooper Parkes was wearing his seat belt.
