HENRYVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) – 15 months after the tornado that devastated Henryville, Indiana, there are signs of more progress.
The Henryville Youth Sports Complex erected a new playground behind the baseball fields at Hornet Park.
70 volunteers built the playground in an effort continue the momentum of moving the community forward.
Hundreds of families lost their homes in the tornado along with safe places for children to play outside.
“Keeping kids healthy, getting them outside, getting them away from the TV’s and video games and building these playgrounds help promote that,” Michele Berry, MDwise Hoosier Alliance representative said.
The next project for Henryville Youth Sports is to build a walking path at the park.
