Grant to help create housing for homeless in Jeffersonville, Ind.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- Jeffersonville, Indiana, has received a grant to help the city create permanent homes for the homeless population.

Lifespring Incorporated said with the help of a $225 thousand Federal Grant, it will convert the 28 beds in its transitional housing program, into permanent housing.

The changes are expected to begin next month.

A number of homeless people have recently been displaced by construction on the new Ohio River Bridge.
