JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- A double murder trial got underway in Clark County Monday for a man accused of setting a fire that killed his fiance's two children.
Jeffrey Weisheit is facing murder charges after Evansville police said he set the 2010 fire that killed 8-year-old Alyssa Lynch and 5-year-old Caleb Lynch.
The trial was moved from Evansville to Clark County because of pre-trial publicity. Additionally, the jury trial will be sequestered throughout the entire trial.
Open arguments were presented Monday morning. Prosecutors said they could call as many as 30 witnesses.
If convicted, Weisheit may face the death penalty.
