HARRISON COUNTY, Ind. -- Well known Corydon OB-GYN Dr. Paul Kelty has turned himself into Harrison County authorities on allegations of over-prescribing medication, Medicaid fraud and sexual battery.

Dr. Kelty's office was raided in February by the Indiana State Police, Harrison County Prosecutor's Office and the Indiana Attorney's General Office. The State Attorney General's Office noticed a high number of prescriptions written by Dr. Kelty. Investigators removed boxes of evidence from his office in that February raid.

Harrison County's prosecutor said in February that Kelty, a 1978 graduate of University of Kentucky College of Medicine, may have prescribed more than one million hazardous pain-killing pills to pregnant women over a period of three years.

"Since 2008 alone six of Dr. Kelty's patients who have been receiving controlled substances have fatally overdosed," J. Otto Schalk, Harrison County Prosecutor said in an early interview with WHAS11.

Also included in the list of charges are allegations Dr. Kelty committed sexual battery by inappropriately touching multiple female patients in various manners.

Dr. Kelty is also accused of knowingly or intentionally obtaining payment from the Medicaid program by means of a false or misleading oral or written statement.

Kelty is charged with seven counts of possession of a controlled substance, four counts of Medicaid fraud, four counts of theft, five counts of sexual battery and one count of battery.

Dr. Kelty's bail is set at $200,000, according to documents from the Harrison County Prosecutor.
