JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11)—A member of the Greater Clark County Schools board of trustees was indicted in May.

Teresa Perkins, who represents District 7, was indicted on a charge of theft of merchandise over $1,000 but under $10,000. She is accused of stealing jewelry totaling nearly $1,400 from The Shoppes on Main back on Feb. 15 in Tennessee.

Police said she took about 30 pieces of jewelry from the store, but only purchased $55 worth of items before she left. Store management used video footage to help identify who took the items.

Her indictment was handed down on May 12 by a Williamson County Grand Jury. She surrendered herself on June 25 and was released on a $5,000 bond.

The charges are a class D felony and Perkins faces two to 12 years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine if she is convicted.
