TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) -- Police are trying to determine what happened before a 3-year-old child was found dead inside a pickup truck parked where the toddler's father works.
Vigo County Coroner Susan Amos tells The Tribune-Star (http://bit.ly/1fqxf4x ) an autopsy is scheduled for Monday, and preliminary results may be available the same day. The high in Terre Haute was 95 degrees Friday.
Police in the western Indiana city went to Vectren Friday afternoon after receiving a report that a child might be dead.
The child was unresponsive and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Attempts to revive the child failed.
Investigators say the truck belonged to the child's father, who arrived at work about four hours earlier.
Police say the father didn't realize the child was in the truck.
