MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- An appeal hearing for a man sentenced in the slaying of an Indiana University student who disappeared during a 2000 bike ride will not resume until late next month.

The Herald Times reports Morgan Superior Court Judge Thomas Gray on Friday set May 21-24 for the continuation of a post-conviction relief hearing for 37-year-old John Myers.

Myers was convicted in the death of Jill Behrman. Her remains were discovered by hunters in a Morgan County field nearly three years after she disappeared.  She had been shot in the head.  Myers was sentenced to 65 years in prison and is seeking a new trial.

Four days of testimony this week focused on Myers' contention that his lawyer at his murder trial should have done more to defend him.
