NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS11) -- New Albany initiated its "Bicentennial Tree Project" this morning to begin its 200th birthday celebration.
The city plans to plant 200 trees in Bicentennial Park to commemorate this milestone.
Tree planting is set to officially start in late September, with a celebration in October for the project's culmination.
City officials say planting trees in urban environments beautifies the community, improving residents' quality of life.
